To check what sort of mail protocol you are currently using on Microsoft Outlook, please follow the below steps:
- Open Outlook.
- Access the accounts settings page. This may be different, depending on what version of Outlook you have:
- OLDER VERSIONS - From the Menu Bar, select the TOOLS drop down, then select EMAIL ACCOUNTS
- NEWER VERSIONS - Click on FILE in the top left corner of outlook, then click the ACCOUNT SETTINGS button, and choose ACCOUNT SETTINGS from the drop down.
- From the list of accounts, double click on the account you wish to view.
- On the following screen, see the highlighted section, which shows the account type you are using, which will be either IMAP or POP.
