Using my own domain NameServers Print

  • 2

As a Hosting Australia reseller, you are entitled to use our NameServers on your client accounts, which are below:

ns1.hosting-australia.com - 101.0.90.34
ns2.hosting-australia.com - 101.0.93.106
ns3.hosting-australia.com - 101.0.93.98

However, if you have the technical knowledge, you may wish to setup and use your own.  To do this, please see the below steps:

NOTES
- High Level of knowledge recommended. This tutorial assumes you understand the basics. If you would like Hosting Australia to create these settings for you, please contact our Suppport team. Charges may apply.
- This tutorial assumes the website domain you are creating the DNS / NS records for, is on a Hosting Australia Server.

  1. Under cPanel, create A Record entries, that correspond to what you would like to use for your NS. For example, ns1.[MYDOMAIN]. Create another, using ns2 and ns3.  Each of the 3, should inturn point to the corresponding Hosting Australia NS IP address, as shown at the start of this tutorial. eg, ns1.[MYDOMAIN] would be an A record, pointed to 101.0.90.34.
  2. Via your domains Registrar, create "GLUE RECORDS" corresponding to the above. This will vary depending on who your domain is registered with. Some registrars also refer to this as Hostname entries.  If you domain is with Hosting Australia, please submit a support ticket, requesting this change.
Note, this can take up to 48 hours to propegate.

Once done, you can test the above is all working, via a site such as http://www.webdnstools.com/dnstools/domain_check.  But please remember, it does take up to 48 hours to complete, so do not expect any test to pass immediately.
