Using the Windows ping tool Print

  • 3

In some cases, our support team may ask you to run a "Ping" test. Basically, a ping test is a quick way of working out if your domain and DNS are going to the correct location.

To run a ping test, please follow the below basic steps:

  1. On your Keyboard, press and hold the WINDOWS key and then press the R key. Alternatively, you can chose RUN from the start menu.
  2. You will then be presented with the RUN dialog box. Enter CMD and click ok.

  3. You will be presented with a black command prompt window. Type into here the command the Hosting Australia support team has requested you to use. This will generally be your domain name, for example ping [mydomain]

  4. You will then be asked to provide the support team with the IP address, which is the section highlight blue above, follow the "Reply from" line, in this case 172.217.25.35.
