Categories are groups of products, like fruit, vegetables, baking supplies, etc. It makes the site a lot easier to browse from the customer's point of view, and makes it a lot easier to find the product you want to edit on your side.
- Click "Category Tree" on the control panel. (You can also access it on the sidebar, by going to Product > Add Category.)
- Select "New".
- Add in the details of the category.
- To make a category a child (sub-category) of another, select the parent category from the Parent tab underneath Description.
- If you want to add an image, go to the image tabs.
- Be sure to select "Auto-create thumbnail".
- Always save or apply the changes. Saving returns you to the Category Tree page, but Apply keeps you on the current page so you can continue working.
