Backup Policy for Hosting Australia Print

The following information and guidelines apply to all client accounts and servers except self-managed VPS or clients using Advanced Backup Services.

Backup Policy and Strategies.

Clients are technically able to store backups directly in their client accounts. However, this practice is not permitted as part of our terms of service. Using server disks as a backup medium do not protect the client data in the case of disk failure. Hosting Australia reserves the right to remove stored client backups at any time to address disk space, and disaster recovery issues affecting the server.

Hosting Australia maintains a regimen of disaster recovery backups on behalf of clients.

The regimen includes:

  1. Incremental backups every 24 hrs
  2. Daily backups up to 21 days.

The regime is not guaranteed by Hosting Australia and though all efforts are made to ensure a stable backup system is maintained, Hosting Australia is not liable for lost data or backups.

The process to backup disaster recovery data is free.  Client requests for data recovery will attract a charge for service.

Clients are advised that they should ensure they take regular separate copies of their website data and that these copies are stored off the server securely.

Clients can use the cPanel backup utility to provide regular downloads of their entire website, email and client area configuration

Alternatively, clients can use third party / software or services to backup and store data off server.
